General Motors CEO Mary Barra will discuss the automaker’s electrification strategy and the importance of EVs during a livestream presentation at the digital Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 12 at 9 a.m. ET, as first reported by Bloomberg. Afterward, GM is expected to also show a few concept vehicles including an electrified version of a Chevrolet pickup and electrified vehicles from its other brands.
We think the Chevy pickup concept GM will preview will be a plug-in hybrid, rather than a fully electric model. Chevrolet declined to comment on the CES concept but reassured Car and Driver that a coming electric pickup will utilize GM’s Ultium battery system. Chevy has offered hybrid versions of previous Silverados, but never a plug-in hybrid model.
